Cooking Instructions

Clean, wash and pat dry the fish pieces. Apply 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric and 1 tsp mustard oil to the fish.Set aside for 30 minutes. Heat oil in a wok and fry the fish pieces (2 at a time).Flip when one side is golden brown. Drain and keep aside.Make a paste of roughly chopped onions, yogurt and ginger garlic paste. Set aside.

In the same oil sprinkle cumin seeds and dry red chilli.Stir fry over medium heat till it splutters. Now add the blended onion, ginger garlic paste along with yogurt.Add 1/2 tsp salt or as needed and sugar to balance the tartness of yogurt and tomato puree.Fry over medium heat till oil leaves sides.Add turmeric,chilli powder, coriander,cumin powder while frying.

Add the fried fish and gently toss in the masala.Add 1 cup warm water, mix, cover and cook till fish is soft and perfectly cooked.Adjust gravy according to need.Add garam masala powder and mix.

Switch off flame.Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and serve delicious Small Pomfret Fish Masala with rice and relish !
