Candy Eyes (Made from Royal Icing) 👀

Edible candy eyes come in handy for all sorts of fun projects. However, they can be a little expensive. I saw a small package at my local supermarket for almost $7.00 the other day!
I found a recipe online that looked pretty easy, and since I already had all of the ingredients and equipment, I gave it a try. I’m pleased to say that the consistency and taste of these homemade eyes are much better than the store-bought version!!

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Assemble your ingredients.
- 2
Combine all the ingredients in a big bowl.
- 3
Use a hand mixer to beat on medium speed for 10 minutes until stiff peaks form.
- 4
Add water about half a teaspoon at a time until the icing thins.
This can be a little bit tricky. You want to achieve what is considered “15 second icing”. That means when you run a knife through the icing, it takes about 15 seconds for the surface of the icing to reform.
- 5
Place about 1/3 of the icing into a separate bowl, and add black food coloring until it achieves a nice, dark color. You may not get pure black, but try to get something close.
- 6
Prepare the piping bags by placing the tips into two separate bags, then standing them upright in glasses, so that they can be filled.
Put the white icing into the bag with the #2 tip, and put the black icing into the bag with the#1 tip. - 7
Pipe small white circles onto the surface of the parchment paper on top of the cookie sheet. You can make any size or shape that you prefer. Keeping the dots relatively small will allow them to dry more quickly and thoroughly.
- 8
Immediately follow up with the black icing. Pipe small black dots on the eyes. You want to do this while the white icing is still wet, so only work in batches of 10 to 12 eyes at a time until you get the hang of it.
- 9
Keep going! This is fun! Make more! 👀
- 10
Make a LOT more. 👀 👀👀
- 11
Let the eyes dry overnight. Check to see if they are dry enough and give them more drying time if necessary.
Store the eyes in a sealed container at room temperature. They will be good for at least 6 months, and probably longer than that.Put them on all kinds of things! Pancakes, cookies, cupcakes, rice crispy treats, candy, fruit!

Cute Candy Cookies Cute Candy Cookies
I saw a cookie with a candy window on a TV show awhile ago. I thought if it could be made with a black cocoa cookie, it'd make for a nice contrast and be really cute, so I gave it a shot. When I put the candy in before baking the cookie dough would become smashed or stick to the candy and it was quite difficult. So I changed the procedure to add the candy during the middle of baking.Try to fill in the gaps with smashed candy bits as much as possible. The baking may differ depending on your household oven, so adjust the temperature and baking time as necessary. If the temperature is too hot, the candy may burn. It might be a good idea to have candy bits left over when baking so you can fill in any gaps. For the candy, I use orange and pineapple flavored Sakuma drops. Recipe by yotiko cookpad.japan -

Cookie Bouquet Icing Cookie Bouquet Icing
Cookie bouquets are pretty well-known in the U.S., but not really popular in Japan yet. You'll lose track of time thinking about what designs and colors to use.In summer, cookie dough has a tendency to become soft easily and is hard to handle. Once cutting out the shapes, return the dough to the freezer for a bit, and stick them on the egg-coated skewers once hardened. Recipe by Nemunemugorichan cookpad.japan -
Stained Glass Cookies with Store-bought Candies Stained Glass Cookies with Store-bought Candies
I created this recipe because I wanted to make easy and cute cookies.Make with the kids or give them as presents. When the cookies are freshly baked, the candies will ooze out, so let them cool on the parchment paper until they have hardened. If the candies fit inside the cutout, you don't need to crush them. The baking time will be longer than for crushed candies, so please adjust the baking time accordingly. Recipe by Miruty cookpad.japan -

For Christmas! Candy Cane Cookies For Christmas! Candy Cane Cookies
I got the candy cane shape idea from an American recipe website, so I made it with my favorite cookie batter called "melting moment" which is equivalent to snowball cookies in Japan I think. This cookie is so delicious! If you can't shape it well, roll it up into balls and simply bake! The dough is not easy to roll out, so do not make it too small, or it will break after baking. I recommend making the stick thick. If the cookies brown too much, the coloring won't turn out as cute, so be careful not to over bake! Please try this with your favorite cookie batter. For about 28 sticks. Recipe by aquariusmoon cookpad.japan -
