Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and generously butter a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
- 2
Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla extract.
- 3
In a separate bowl, sift flour with baking powder, baking soda and salt. With the mixer on low speed, add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with sour cream until just combined. Do not overmix. Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
- 4
Make the topping: Combine sugar, cinnamon, flour and nuts in a small bowl and mix well.
- 5
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the cake and tap surface to evenly it up. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean.
- 6
Cool, cut into pieces and serve.

American Coffee Cake American Coffee Cake
This is a cake that a friend made for me when I lived in a dormitory. She used Bisquick, so I experimented using Japanese pancake mix to achieve a similar taste. You can make a thicker topping by increasing the amounts of butter and sugar. I only used a small amount for the cake in the photo, so the topping is quite light. Feel free to adjust the amounts to your taste. Recipe by Tsukushigumi cookpad.japan -

As my fiancé doesn't like peanut butter and I really didn't fancy making a whole different dessert I found this stupidly easy dessert to make. Not entirely sure why it's called coffee cake as there's no coffee in the recipe but regardless it tastes good.Recipe found on http://realmomkitchen.com Rae -
