Steps
- 1
Prepare the pork cutlet. You can fry it at home, use a store-bought one, or even a frozen cutlet.
- 2
Make the donburi sauce. Combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar in the specified amounts, heat, and bring to a boil for 1 minute to evaporate the alcohol.
- 3
Add the sliced onion to the prepared donburi sauce and heat over medium heat for about 60 seconds.
- 4
Simmer until the onion turns light brown, about 60 seconds over medium heat.
- 5
Once the onion is colored, add the pork cutlet, cover, and simmer over medium heat for 20 seconds.
- 6
Add the eggs in two parts. Pour half of the eggs around the edge of the pot over medium heat, cover for 15 seconds. Add the remaining eggs in the center and cook for 20 seconds to finish.
- 7
Top with mitsuba or watercress to finish.
