In a saucepan, heat 3 1/3 cups milk (800 ml) with the citrus peels, cinnamon stick, and sugar. Let it simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.

Dissolve the cornstarch in the remaining 3/4 cup milk (200 ml) that was not heated.

Strain the infused milk and mix it with the cornstarch mixture in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.

Pour the mixture into a tray. Once cooled, refrigerate for 8 hours.

When firm and easy to handle, cut into rectangles. Coat each piece in flour, then beaten egg, and fry in plenty of oil until golden.

Roll the fried pieces in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
