Stews often seem time-consuming, but this seafood stew, bursting with fresh ocean flavors, can be made in under 20 minutes! Italian fishermen used to throw a mix of freshly caught seafood into a deep pot and cook it on the boat. Try this delicious fisherman's dish at home!
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Use a 24 cm non-stick pot with a 5-liter capacity, suitable for 4-6 people. It's perfect for Western soups, Asian noodle soups, curries, and even hot pots.
- 2
The pot is versatile, compatible with gas, induction, and ceramic stoves, and dishwasher safe.
- 3
The pot features a Teflon 4-star non-stick coating, which is more durable than standard Teflon. Clean with warm soapy water before first use, and dry with a paper towel or cloth. Use nylon, plastic, or wooden utensils to avoid scratching the coating.
- 4
Select high-quality fresh or frozen seafood from a reliable source.
- 5
Soak fresh clams in saltwater to purge sand. Thaw other seafood, trim shrimp whiskers and sharp points, devein, and optionally peel. Cut squid into pieces. Cut tuna belly and halibut into large chunks (avoid thin slices to prevent breaking during cooking), season with 1 teaspoon salt and a pinch of black pepper, and marinate for 10 minutes.
- 6
Heat 3/4 tablespoon olive oil in the pot over medium heat. Sauté onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes for about 3 minutes until the onion turns translucent.
- 7
Add squid and stir-fry.
- 8
Add fresh and canned tomatoes, pour in white wine, and increase to medium-high heat. Once the alcohol evaporates, add stock, bring to a boil, then reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- 9
Add fish chunks, shrimp, and clams, pressing them into the broth with a spatula.
- 10
The deep pot prevents splattering during stirring. Once clams open and fish is cooked, turn off the heat. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper if needed, but the clams usually provide enough saltiness, and the broth is rich with seafood flavors.
- 11
Sprinkle with chopped parsley to finish. Serve the pot directly on the table for an elegant presentation.
- 12
Pair with sliced French bread to soak up the broth and enjoy a hearty meal!

Almost Cioppino (Seafood Stew) Almost Cioppino (Seafood Stew)
I was craving Cioppino but being in a land-locked state fresh, good seafood for making true Cioppino is extremely hard to come by. Enter my attempt to make it from some leftover trimmed down cod pieces from the last time I cut cod fillets and some freezer section and canned seafood. It still turned out really good, and my son and husband had two bowls each! Not the greatest pic cause I forgot to take one before it was half gone haha. Amount of people this serves really depends on how much everyone eats.#April2026 StephieCanCook -
Erin's Easy Bouillabaisse/Fisherman's Stew Erin's Easy Bouillabaisse/Fisherman's Stew
Had this soup at my fav French restaurant in Windsor for many years until they closed. This is nothing like the technique the chef there used, but the flavors are pretty close! This can also be done in the slow cooker on high (w/ all ingredients EXCEPT) seafood for 4 hrs, adding the seafood in the last 30 min on high. Erin Stein -
California Farm Fish Stew Bouillabaise California Farm Fish Stew Bouillabaise
Now that excellent fish stock can be made from shrimp bouillion cubes, I no longer simmer whole fish overnight. The shrimp bouillion is used to make soup from braised tomatoes, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, potato, fennel, saffron, herbs, all fresh from the garden. Just before serving, frozen white fish, frozen cooked mussels and frozen raw shrimp are added. Served with Sour dough bread with a special sauce called rouille. Follow this 12 pint recipe even if you cook for only two people, so you have all ingredients in each pint portion for freezing. Hobby Horseman -
My Exotic Sea Food Stew My Exotic Sea Food Stew
I watched this Korean show titled “The Rules of the Jungle” in which few celebrities and the group leader named Byong Man Kim would go to remote places or islands and try to survive for 3 days or more. They have to either catch or fish for their foods and search for their seasoning, fruits, or vegetables. They also have to build their own dwelling. Very interesting show.In one of the episodes, Byong Man cooked some fish he caught in fresh coconut juice. And I said to myself that I should try that.Today is the day. 2choi -
