California Farm Goat Steak Crockpot Recipe

This family recipe is updated with cookpad member Skunkmonkey’s goat cube recipe, thank you.
I used to raise my own goats, switched to meat sheep, but I miss the taste of goat steaks.
It resembles venison. Our local butcher sells goatmeat. Goat meat, wild game, and certain cuts of beef are tough, but usually very flavorfull, farmers always have tenderizing recipes.
I cook goat meat long and slow till it is fall-off -the -bone tender.
The leftover juices are perfect to stew another four dinners of fresh vegetables and potatoes.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Wash the goat steaks, rub with spices and herbs, put in crockpot with bayleaf and marinade rub spices in balsamic vinegar and water with crockpot on high. Stir well, immerse the meat, heat one hour.
- 2
Turn crockpot to low. Add sage, onion, agave syrup on top of the meat, and enough water to cover the meat by an inch, so the meat will not cook dry overnight. Simmer 8 hours.
- 3
Next morning, remove bones, shred meat, add 3 cubed potatoes, simmer an hour. Bones go to the dog.
- 4
After an hour, add the sliced carrots and half the cauliflower, simmer 2 hours with the potatoes. The potatoes and vegetables will absorb the delicious flavors of the meat and juices in 3 hours without getting soggy or mushy.
- 5
Garnish shredded goat steaks, potatoes and vegetables with parsley and cilantro and serve. In leftover juices, cook other half of cauliflower with fresh sliced onions, carrots and potatoes on high for 3 hours, to use for future meals. Enjoy.

California Farm Succulent Roasted Pork Steak California Farm Succulent Roasted Pork Steak
Soy sauce, sugar, onion and garlic in a roasting bag for both marinade and roast! Cookpad Auntie Eiko posted this, it is brilliant to marinade and roast in the same bag. Most tender pork steak ever!I tried it a few times and tweaked her recipe by adding a lemon and a mild red onion for the marinade to make a sweet and sour gravy to my liking. Thank you Eiko. The roasting bag is expensive and does not survive the oven for reuse, so I tried a ceramic roasting dish with heavy glass lid for both marinade and roast. Success! Hobby Horseman -

We cut our beef extra thick, one inch. A six ounce steak per person. Cooked till tender in a Dutch oven with lid, with the juices of potatoes, carrots, and celery vegetables braising the meat. The meat juices make a tasty gravy. Hobby Horseman -

California Farm Grilled T-Bone Steak California Farm Grilled T-Bone Steak
We like our beef steaks thick, cut one inch thick. Here is how we grill steaks over charcoal on the barbecue and serve it tender. It is called reverse grilling: you finish the internal meat to the level of doneness first on a low temperature, away from the hot coals, test if it is rare, medium-rare, medium, medium well or well done, and then sear the meat over high heat over the coals, one minute per side. You can use an internal digital thermometer, or Emma-Jane’s cookpad finger method. I tried both methods side by side on steaks and I feel confident her method is as accurate as digital thermometers, better than time based methods. Hobby Horseman -
