Ultra-Smooth 3-Flavor Flan for Kids

Melt 1/2 cup sugar (100 grams) in a pan over medium heat until it turns a deep amber color. Pour the caramel evenly into plastic cups.

In a saucepan, combine the milk, sweetened condensed milk, and water. Stir and heat gently until warm. In a bowl, beat the eggs until smooth. Gradually add the eggs to the warm milk mixture, stirring constantly. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove any lumps.

Divide the mixture into 3 equal parts. Leave one part plain, mix one part with the matcha powder, and mix the last part with the cocoa powder. Pour each mixture into separate cups. Cover the cups tightly with lids.

Bring water to a boil in a steamer. Place the flan cups in the steamer and steam over medium or low heat for about 20-30 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick—if it comes out clean, the flan is ready. The result is ultra-smooth, delicious flan.
