Ingredients

2 hr 30 min.
2 people
  • 500 g- 1000g Lamb mince
  • 4 tbsp.Sunflower Oil
  • 2 very large Brown Onions
  • 4 large raw Carrots
  • 1200ml/ 1 Litre 200ml cold tap water
  • 8 heaped tsp. Beef Gravy Granules
  • 600ml cold tap water too replace evaporated water
  • 2.5 KG Maris Piper Potatoes
  • One tsp. Salt too season the cooked potatoes
  • Cold tap water too fill a medium sized saucepan
  • One tsp. Coarse Sea Salt too garnish

Steps

  1. 1

    Place 4 tablespoons Sunflower Oil in a Casserole Cooking Dish with its own Casserole Lid. Place roughly chopped onions into the Sunflower Oil and shallow fry on the lowest hob heat for 20 minutes. Peel the 4 very large raw Carrots and then eventually cut all the Carrots into equal tiny squares and then add too the cooked onions - shallow fry the Carrots on the lowest hob heat for a further 10 minute's

    Add 1200ml/ 2 very large drinking mugs of cold tap water, bring to the boil and then using a teaspoon measurement Spoon add 8 heap's of Shop bought Beef Gravy Granules - stir - and then cook on the lowest hob heat with the Casserole Lid on - for 30 minutes and then add a further 600ml Cold tap water - stir - and then place the Casserole Lid back on and then cook on the lowest hob heat for a further 30 minutes and then allow too rest with the Lid on

    Gently boil the potatoes in the medium sized saucepan within the One hour and Thirty minutes Period, might have to boil the potatoes by way of 2 batches if you don't have another medium sized saucepan, so peel the raw potatoes add half of the potatoes too a medium sized saucepan and then add Cold tap water over the top and then bring too the boil for 5 minutes and then gently simmer on the lowest hob heat for 40 minutes - allow all the cooked potatoes to rest in a very large metal Mixing Bowl

    Add cold cooked Lamb mince, cooked onions, carrots and Beef Gravy too the bottom of a Tray Bake tray and then use a Food Processor such as a Tefal too make the cold cooked potatoes into a smooth mashed potatoes - blitz with a heaped teaspoon of Coarse Sea Salt and then add a portion of the cold cooked mash on top - spread out evenly ‐ fork and then bake in the oven at Gas Mark 6 for One hour. Garnish and season at the same time by sprinkling One heaped teaspoon of flakey Coarse Salt over top

A salt garnish over the top of the cooked Shepherds Pie mashed potatoes is good even if just a sprinkling of Table Salt . If using very Coarse Sea Salt - then is best too place that Salt in the Pestle and Mortar too break down that Salt into edible pieces
