English Crumpets English Crumpets
I suddenly felt like having Crumpets so I gave them a try. They take less time to prepare than baking bread. In the past, I used a hot plate with vegetable oil, but I made them in a frying pan with unsalted butter. It's best to ferment the yeast in a separate container with just a small amount of sugar and lukewarm water. Keep the temperature around 38℃. It takes some time for it to ferment and double in size. Cooking with unsalted butter brings out the flavor.Using a hotplate is convenient for keeping them warm. Chewy Crumpets Chewy Crumpets
I tried making these because I heard that in the UK, they cook bread dough in the frying pan.I used my oven's proving function for the rising. You could also let the dough rise by other methods, such as putting it in front of the stove or in a bowl placed in hot water. Recipe by Hokkaido farmer cookpad.japan -
Breakfast Crumpets with Roasted Wheat Germ Breakfast Crumpets with Roasted Wheat Germ
I made these when I ran out of bread for breakfast. They are easier to make than baking bread, and I like them as they are not as sweet as normal pancakes.I added roasted wheat germ, because my daughter and I love the fragrant smell!!You can just roughly mix the mixture with a whisk. When you fry the crumpets, they won't rise much if the temperature is too low. So fry them over medium heat, but make sure not to burn them! They are light and not so sweet, so they are perfect for breakfast!I think they are more delicious if you add the wheat germ, as they have a nice fragrant smell and you can enjoy them right to the end! Absolutely Fabulous Crab Cream Croquettes Absolutely Fabulous Crab Cream Croquettes
I've made these so many times because I love cream croquettes. I think these were what made my husband fall for me (lol)!Even without consommé, the crabsticks make it very tasty.Brown the onion over low heat until sweet. Make sure not to burn.Coat with lots of flour and eggs; breadcrumbs are better if fine.PS:If it's too soft to form the croquettes, chill briefly in the freezer for a better result!
