To begin with, wash and rinse urad dal or chana dal thoroughly with water and soak for 4 to 5 hours.

Drain out completely. Blend coarsely by adding ginger, green chillies, and garlic or you can seprately blend ginger,garlic or chillies to avoid chunks in the batter.

Transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, garam masala, or coriander powder.

Mix well and stuffing is ready. Set aside. Now, add rice flour in a bowl.

Knead a dough by gradually adding warm water.

Now take a small ball size portion from the dough, flatten it with your hand and put the prepared stuffing. Seal the edges properly.

Prepare the rest following same way. Put them in a hot boiling water one by one. Do not add all at once.

Initially, these dumplings will sit at the bottom but once they are cooked, they begin to float at the top. It took around 10 -15 minutes to cook. Drain and keep aside.

Allow to cool and cut into pieces. Now heat oil in a wok, add mustard seeds, cumin and curry leaves.

Stir fry all the prepared dumplings. Also, add turmeric powder, black salt or chat masala.

Fry until they turn crispy. For mint chutney, blend mint leaves, tomatoes, onion and green chilli and lastly add lemon or salt.

Transfer it to serving bowl.
