Ingredients

3-serving
  • 1 CupToor Dal
  • 1Tomato
  • 1Onion chopped
  • 5 - 6 Clovesgarlic
  • 1ginger small piece of chopped
  • 1bottlegourd medium sized
  • 1 Pinchjeera whole
  • 1 Pinchmustard seeds
  • 3 TablespoonsSunflower oil
  • 2 TeaspoonsCorriander powder
  • 1 Teaspoonjeera powder
  • 2 Pinchsturmeric powder
  • 1 Sprigcorriander powder chopped
  • 2chillies dried red

Steps

  1. 1

    Boil the toor dal and mash it to a fine paste.

  2. 2

    Chop tomato, onions, garlic and ginger finely. Peel the bottelgourd and chop it into 1 inch size cubes.

  3. 3

    Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds and jeera. Add tomato, onion, ginger, garlic and red chillies and saute.

  4. 4

    Add turmeric, salt, jeera powder and corriander powder and saute till it browns.

  5. 5

    Add the bottlegourd and continue frying it till it becomes soft and well-cooked.

  6. 6

    Once the mix in step 3 is cooked to a light brown, add the cooked dal and mix until it blends together well.

  7. 7

    Garnish with corriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or chapati.
