Blackened Green Beans

I am a big fan of The Food Network. While I studied and worked in the states, I watched The Food Network during my spare time. I never really had the time to reproduce any of the recipes, but people around noticed that all that time spent watching Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, Giada De Laurentiis, Ina Garten, Robert Irvine, Sandra Lee and Bobby Flay brought lots of inspiration to my cooking. A couple of years ago they began a series called "THE NEXT FOOD NETWORK STAR" (new season starts June 6,2010) and in the second season Guy Fieri won. This recipe is from Guy Fieri from one of his episodes (Guy's Big Bite) on The Food Network
This recipe definitely is a great alternative to the same old beans recipe that most of us follow. I luved the crunchiness of it and it went great with my Comfort food menu from the other night. Hope you will enjoy it just as we did :) The following are the exact ingredients and measurements from Guy Fieri, I eyeballed the measurements per taste, so you may choose to strictly follow or not :)

Steps
- 1
Bring water to a boil and add the green beans and some salt
- 2
Blanch for 3mins and immediately place the GBs in an ice water bath
- 3
In a seperate bowl, mix all the dry ingredients and some salt
- 4
Toss the beans in this mixture
- 5
Heat some oil in a large pan
- 6
Fieri says that it has to be hot until it is almost smoking - I didn't want to risk the smoke alarm going off so, I just took it high enough
- 7
Add the GB's and cook until the spices begin to blacken (the smell is amazing!!!! :)
- 8
When its done, add some butter, toss, and serve it after garnishing with some Parmesan
