Ingredients

  • 18 - 20Baby potatoes (boiled and peeled)
  • 1 tspMustard seeds
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • Curry leaves few
  • 4 - 5chilies Dried red (whole)
  • 1 tspUrad dal
  • 1 tspchili powder Red  (you can adjust according to your taste)
  • ½ tspTurmeric
  • ½ tspCoriander powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • 3 tbspsTamarind pulp
  • 2 tbspsOil
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • 2 tspsCoriander seeds
  • 2 - 3chilies (I used kashmiri red chili) Whole red
  • 4 - 5Black peppercorns
  • Dry roast the above spices and grind to a powder
  • Coriander leaves

Steps

  1. 1

    In a pan or kadhai, heat oil, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, allow it to crack

  2. 2

    Add urad dal, fry for few seconds till it turns golden

  3. 3

    Add curry leaves and whole red chilies, fry

  4. 4

    Add boiled potatoes, sauté well for few seconds

  5. 5

    Then add red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, salt, sauté for another minute

  6. 6

    Add tamarind pulp, sauté for few seconds

  7. 7

    Finally add ground masala and toss well

  8. 8

    Dish out, garnish with coriander leaves and serve
