Sweet-Savory Glazed Tofu

I dreamed this up to make a delicious proteiny breakfast for my food-allergy kid, but won over the carnivorous don't-feed-me-rabbit-food husband as well. Easy to do a batch and freeze a bunch.
Sweet-Savory Glazed Tofu
I dreamed this up to make a delicious proteiny breakfast for my food-allergy kid, but won over the carnivorous don't-feed-me-rabbit-food husband as well. Easy to do a batch and freeze a bunch.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- 2
Press tofu to get as much water out as possible. Leave it to drip for up to 30 minutes.
- 3
Cut tofu into 1" cubes and put them in a big bowl.
- 4
Add the olive oil, honey or maple syrup, and soy sauce and toss the tofu to coat.
- 5
Spread the tofu on a large baking sheet with rims (it will give up a fair amount of water).
- 6
Bake for 45-60 minutes. Once you see that the cubes are getting golden (~25 minutes in), flip them just once with a spatula. Cubes are finished when most of them have a uniform golden appearance and they are starting to get brown on the edges.
- 7
If desired, let the cubes completely cool on the tray and then put them in a freezer bag to use gradually. I serve a few each morning to my son for breakfast, but occasionally steal a cup or two to add to a stir fry.

American Deli-Style Marinated Sweet and Salty Tofu American Deli-Style Marinated Sweet and Salty Tofu
I bought marinated tofu at the deli section in an American gourmet supermarket, and it was so delicious I wanted to recreate my own version. Even if you don't measure the ingredients exactly, this dish will turn out pretty good.I don't have hints in particular, but you can use any kind of vinegar for this dish as long as it's vinegar. Balsamic vinegar works great as well. When deep frying, you don't need a lot of oil. Just deep-fry until all sides of the tofu are crispy. Recipe by cupcake-addict cookpad.japan -

I was working on recipes that used our family favorite Sweet and Spicy Sauce. At first I tried it without mayonnaise, and it was 'just ok', not worth writing up as a recipe. But once I added mayonnaise it became a dish I was proud of, so I uploaded it here.-Use a thick, durable kitchen paper towel that holds up to heat well for Step 2.-Katakuriko absorbs a lot of oil, so if there isn't enough oil add some more.-This is delicious as a donburi rice bowl topping.
