Ingredients

  1. stale tsoureki (Greek traditional Easter fluffy aromatic sweet bread)
  2. 2 1/2 cupssugar
  3. 2 cupswater
  4. dondurma ice cream (ice cream with salep and mastic)

Steps

  1. 1

    If you have any leftover tsoureki, cut it into slices and place it under the grill for a little while, to get it light golden brown.

  2. 2

    For about 10 slices, boil 2 1/2 cups sugar with 2 cups water for 10 minutes. If you like, you can replace half a cup of water with orange juice.

  3. 3

    Pour the hot syrup over the tsoureki slices. Allow it to cool and serve with dondurma ice cream.
