Ingredients

4 servings
  • 200 gramsCluster beans (Gwarfali)
  • 1Onion chopped
  • 1tomato chopped
  • 2 tablespoonsfresh coconut scraped
  • 1 inchpiece of ginger
  • 3garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoonoli
  • 1 teaspoonkashmiri red chil
  • 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • for dry masala
  • 2 tablespoonsdry coconut grated/shredded
  • 1 tablespoon dry coria
  • 1 tablespoondry coriander seeds(dhana)
  • 1/2 teaspooncumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoonpoppy seeds(khas khas)
  • 1/2 teaspoonsasame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoonfennel seeds(sauf)
  • 3cloves
  • 3peppercorn
  • 1/2 inchcinnamon stick

Steps

  1. 1

    Cut cluster beans into small pieces if 1 inches

  2. 2

    Dry roast all masala ingredient coconut, coriander seeds; cumin seeds; sesame seeds; poppy seeds; fennel seeds; black peppercorn; cinnamon stick in a pan on low heat till nice aroma comes.

  3. 3

    Remove from heat and let it cool at room temperature.

  4. 4

    Grind it into fine powder and keep aside.

  5. 5

    Grind onion; tomato; ginger and garlic with fresh coconut to a fine paste.

  6. 6

    Heat oil in pressure cooker Add onion tomato paste and roast till it starts leaving oil.

  7. 7

    Add turmeric power and red chilly powder. Add cluster beans and salt and ground dry masala.

  8. 8

    Add water and adjust consistency of gravy. Close the lid of pressure cooker and cook till one whistle.

  9. 9

    Manually carefully remove the pressure (otherwise cluster beans will over cook)

  10. 10

    It's ready. serve it with hot rice/ chapati.
