This is a super yummy Indian street food, made with corn. In India locally available corn is not very sweet like sweet corn. So this dish tastes best made with local indian variety. As we do not get that here in Japan so I have modified the recipe to use sweet corn kernels and corn grits to get that same flavor and taste. Do give it a try.

Ingredients

2 servings
  • 500 gsweet corn kernels
  • 1/4 cupcorn grits
  • 2green chili finely chopped (change as per taste)
  • 4 tbspoil
  • salt
  • 1 tspcoriander powder
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • pinchmustard seeds
  • pinchasafoetida powder (optional)
  • dry grated coconut for garnish
  • Lemon juice for garnish

  1. 1

    Finely grind corn kernels and thoroughly mix corn grits with it. Keep aside for a few min so that corn grits will absorb sweet corn juices.

    Take a wide nonstick pan on medium heat, pour oil. Once it is hot add mustard seeds, let them pop.

  3. 3

    Then add asafoetida (optional). Reduce heat and add green chili, turmeric and coriander powder.

  4. 4

    To this add corn and salt as per taste, mix well. Let it cook on low or medium heat. Keep stirring it continuously, do not let it stick to the bottom.

  5. 5

    When the corn is cooked and raw taste of corn grits is gone your kees is ready.

    Serve it hot garnished with dry coconut powder and lemon juice.
