Beetroot is such a versatile Vegetable that it is used extensively by us Indians for many wonderful dishes and one such healthy Dessert made out of it is the Beetroot Halwa and forming laddus out of it is purely my innovative idea and believe me, they disappeared in no time. It is a wonderful idea to feed this Veggie to the kids and the most fussy lot would also never say no to it.

Steps

Wash, peel and grate the beetroots either in a food processor or manually.

In a wide mouthed cooking pot, add this grated beetroot along with the milk and keep the flame on low at first.

Cover it and let it cook.

After 10 to 12 minutes of cooking, open the lid and increase the flame to medium high.

The flame should be low at first because otherwise the milk will curdle if cooked on high flame.

After the beetroot becomes tender and soft, add the rest of the ingredients one by one except the mawa.

It will take about 25 to 30 minutes to tenderize.

Keep the flame on high now and saute it well until the ghee starts leaving the sides of the pan.

As soon as it becomes like a solid mass, stir in the mawa and mix well.

Allow it to cool down a bit.

Grease your palms and start making laddus out of it.

At first the laddus will be softer but they will become firm after a standing time of 30 to 40 minutes.

Keep them covered and refrigerated for the best results.

Serve them chilled to your loved ones.
