I came up with this version of Alfredo sauce using milk thickened with a bit of flour rather than using heavy cream and I'm pleased with the result. Although it still has 1/2 cup of butter, I say all in moderation!! The family loved it!

I came up with this version of Alfredo sauce using milk thickened with a bit of flour rather than using heavy cream and I'm pleased with the result. Although it still has 1/2 cup of butter, I say all in moderation!! The family loved it!

Ingredients

  1. 3 packagesfrozen cheese tortellini (14 oz ea)
  2. 3 cupcooked and chopped chicken
  3. 1/2 cupbutter
  4. 1 1/2 tbspall-purpose flour
  5. 2 1/2 cupwhole milk
  6. 1 tspchopped garlic
  7. 1 tbspItalian seasoning
  8. 1 3/4 cupshredded parmesan cheese(reserve 1/2 c for topping!)
  9. 4 ozcream cheese
  10. 1/2 cupItalian bread crumbs

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 325. Spray a 9x13 baking dish and add all tortellini. (No need to cook, add them frozen!!) Next, add chicken evenly.

    Melt butter and add flour. Cook 1 minute on medium. Lower heat and add milk. Whisk on low for 5 minutes and then add remaining ingredients EXCEPT bread crumbs and reserved parm cheese. Cook on a low simmer another 5 minutes until cheese is melted.

    Pour Alfredo sauce over tortellini and Chicken and mix well. Top with bread crumbs and reserved parmesan cheese. Bake 30-40 minutes covered and 10 minutes uncovered. Enjoy!!
