Ingredients

  • 3 cupred rice wine vinegar
  • 2packages, (12 ounces each) frozen raspberries

Steps

  1. 1

    Thaw and crush 1 package of raspberries and combine with vinegar in a heat proof 2 quart glass jar.

  2. 2

    Place the jar in a saucepan filled with water and bring to a boil over medium heat.

  3. 3

    Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Remove jar from the pan and allow it to cool.

  5. 5

    Cap the jar and allow the mixture to stand for 2 weeks.

  6. 6

    After 2 weeks, drain the liquid through a strainer or doubled layer of cheesecloth into a glass bowl.

  7. 7

    Discard the old berries.

  8. 8

    Thaw and crush the remaining package of raspberries.

  9. 9

    Combine the new raspberries with the vinegar in the jar.

  10. 10

    Repeat the heating procedure and allow the vinegar to stand for 2 more weeks.

  11. 11

    Drain the liquid again through a strainer or doubled layer of cheesecloth into a glass bowl.

  12. 12

    Pour the liquid into glass bottles.

  13. 13

    Cap bottles tightly or seal the bottle with wax.

  14. 14

    *This recipe makes about 3 1/2 cups vinegar.*

    **This recipe makes a nice gift.**

    ***This goes great on spinach salad or cooked in chicken dishes.***

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.
