This recipe was handed down from my Bigmama (grandma). Bigmama was a real old fashioned Southern cook and we loved her rich, creamy mashed potatoes.Try them and you'll love them too. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  1. 5 lbspotatoes (I used russets)
  2. 2 teaspoonssalt for boiling potatoes
  3. 1/2 stickbutter or margarine
  4. 1 (12 oz)can Carnation evaporated milk
  5. 4 ozsour cream (optional)
  6. to tastesalt and black pepper
  7. 1 teaspoondried parsley flakes to garnish

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    PLACE potatoes in large saucepan or pot. Cover with cold water, add salt; bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium-high and cook for 30 to 35 minutes or until fork tender; drain.

    RETURN potatoes to saucepan; add butter, evaporated milk and sour cream. Mash with potato masher until desired consistency.

    Season with salt and black pepper. Move potatoes to a serving dish and garnish with parsley flakes.
