Ingredients

  1. Ingredients
  2. 1 cupvegtable shortning
  3. 1/2 cupbrown sugar
  4. 1/2 cupwhite sugar
  5. 1/2 tspeach cloves, cinnimon, ginger, nutmeg
  6. 1 largeegg
  7. 1/4 cupmolasses
  8. 3 cupflour
  9. 1/4 tspsalt, optional
  10. 1/4 tspbaking soda
  11. 2 cupchocolate chips
  12. 1 1/2 cupflaked coconut
  13. 1 1/2 cuprasins
  14. 1 cupchopped nuts
  15. For Chocolate Variation add
  16. 1/4 cupbaking cocoa
  17. 1 cupwhite chocolate chips....substitute for 1 cup of the chocolate chips

Cooking Instructions

45 mins
  1. 1

    preheat oven at 350°F

  2. 2

    mix dry ingredients in lg bowl

  3. 3

    in separate bowlblend sugars and shortening until fluffy with hand mixer.

  4. 4

    add molasses, spices, and egg to mixture, blend well

  5. 5

    mix in dry ingredients in 3 separate additions, blend well

  6. 6

    gradually add chocolate chips, coconut, rasins, and nuts. blend well

  7. 7

    drop by rounded teaspoons on greased cookie sheet

  8. 8

    bake in 350°F oven for 8-10 minutes

  9. 9

    a recipe i dedicate to my dad who help me come up with it years ago.

    Should make about 24 cookies, 2 per serving....one for each hand
