Delicious Spanish Tortilla 🍴

One of our favorite dishes is the Spanish tortilla. Golden on the outside and slightly runny on the inside. Here's how I make it and my trick for knowing when to flip it! 😉😄

One of our favorite dishes is the Spanish tortilla. Golden on the outside and slightly runny on the inside. Here's how I make it and my trick for knowing when to flip it! 😉😄

Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters. Slice each quarter into 1/4-inch thick slices.

Heat olive oil in a pan, filling it about 1 inch deep, and when it's hot, fry the potatoes over medium heat for about 15 minutes. It's important to stir them so they fry evenly =)

Increase the heat and brown the potatoes for 5 minutes. During this time, add a tablespoon of salt. Remove them and drain the oil well (you can use paper towels).

Prepare the eggs. I used these, which are from free-range chickens. It really makes a big difference... 👌

Beat the 10 eggs well until they are slightly frothy. Add a tablespoon of salt.

Add the fried potatoes and mix carefully to avoid breaking them too much.

Return to the pan. Remove the previous oil. Now you need a splash of oil to grease it, but not too much.

When it's hot, add the egg and potato mixture, and lower the heat to medium-low (about 3 out of 10 on an electric stove). Cook for about 5 minutes...

✔️My trick for knowing when to flip it? When I see that the edges are set about 1/2 inch, I take a plate larger than the pan. I place it on top carefully with the base of the plate facing up, and flip it confidently and without fear...👌

TIP ➡️ Flip the tortilla away from the stove. It's better to do it over the counter/table, as it's easier to clean if a bit of tortilla falls.

Now carefully place the tortilla back in the pan to set the bottom for about 10 minutes over medium-low heat as well.

When it's done, place it on a large plate and... Ready to enjoy!
