Ingredients

30 minutes
3 people
  • 250 gmpaneer grated
  • 1small onion finely chopped
  • 1small capsicum finely chopped
  • 1medium tomato finely chopped
  • 1 tbspoil
  • 1/2 tspcumin seed jeera
  • 1 tspginger garlic paste adding garlic is optional
  • 1green chilli finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsphing asafoetida
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder haldi
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspcoriander cumin powder
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala
  • 1/2 tspamchur powder dry mango powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tspchat masala optional
  • 1 tbspkasuri methi crushed between palms (dry fenugreek leaves)
  • 2 tbspcoriander washed and finely chopped
  • salt as per taste

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seed. Let it roast and crackle. Add green chilies, ginger garlic paste and asafoetida.

    Add onions and capsicum. Mix well. Cover and cook till they are softened for 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add finely chopped tomato. Mix well and cook till tomato softens.

  4. 4

    Add spices - turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander cumin powder, garam masala, amchur powder, chat masala. Mix well and saute for 4-5 minutes till the spices release aroma.

  5. 5

    Add the crumbled paneer and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute. Add chopped coriander and kasuri methi crushed bwtween palms.

  6. 6

    Mix well. Do not cook more after adding paneer as it will make paneer chewy. The paneer bhurji is ready.

  7. 7

    Serve paneer bhurji hot with chapati, parathas, bread or pav.
