Ingredients

70 minutes
4 servings
  • 500 gmcurry cut Chicken
  • 1/8 tspgrated Nutmeg
  • 3 tbspchopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoonCoconut pieces for garnish- optional
  • 1/2 teaspoonTurmeric
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 tbspGhee/oil
  • To Roast and grind
  • 1/2 cupgrated Coconut
  • 1/2 teaspoonSesame Seeds
  • 1/2 inchGinger
  • 4-5Garlic cloves
  • 1 inchCinnamon
  • 2-3green Cardamom seeds
  • 1black Cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoonPeppercorns
  • 5-6Cloves
  • 4-5dry kashmiri Chilli
  • 1/4 teaspoonFenugreek Seeds
  • 1 teaspoonPoppy Seeds
  • 1.5 teaspoonCoriander seeds
  • 1Onion sliced
  • 2 tbspOil
  • 3/4 teaspoonSaunf
  • 1/2 teaspoonJeera
  • 1small strand Mace

Steps

70 minutes
  1. 1

    Marinate 500 chicken pieces with salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric, set aside for 30 mins

    Heat 1 tbsp oil, roast all the spices, 1/2 inch ginger piece, 4-5 garlic cloves

    Add 1 sliced onion, 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut, saute until golden brown

    Allow the masala to cool completely

  5. 5

    Add to a mixer jar, add a little water, blend into a smooth puree

    Heat 1 tbsp oil, add the marinated chicken, stir fry for 2-3 mins

    Add the ground masala paste, mix well

    Add salt to taste, bring to a boil, cover & cook on low heat until done

    Add 1/8 tsp grated nutmeg, 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves, mix well and take off heat

    Serve hot with rice or pulao

It's a xacuti you need more grated coconut and must be a bit thick ground
