Ingredients

4 - 6 servings
  1. 1 lbground Sirloin OR ground Turkey
  2. 3/4 cupdiced onion
  3. 10 ozPinto Beans
  4. 3-5diced vine tomatoes
  5. 1 Tbsptomato paste (optional)
  6. 2 Tbspminced garlic
  7. 1/2 tspCumin +/-
  8. 1 TbspOregano +/-
  9. 1/2 tspSalt
  10. 1 tspblack pepper
  11. 2 tspPaprika or crushed Red pepper for spice +/-
  12. Shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream & sliced onion for toppings

Steps

50mins w/prep
  1. 1

    Brown ground meat on medium heat, add onion and garlic half way through.

  2. 2

    Once meat is no longer 'pink', add beans, tomatoes, and all spices - cook for 5 mins, stirring often.

  3. 3

    Lower heat to low, cover, simmer for 20min.

  4. 4

    Add tomato paste, if you would like to thicken the chili, then add more cumin, oregano and paprika/crushed red pepper to taste. Simmer 10 more minutes.

    Serve with toppings of your choice.

    Search 'Honey Cornbread' by Mindy !! I make this recipe with my chili all the time, and it is a hit!! You can even 1/2 the recipe and make 6 cornbread muffins:-)

  7. 7

    This recipe gains flavor when refrigerated overnight<3 Just reheat in a pot on low for 20min.
