Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 6large tlayuda tortillas
  2. 1/2 cuppork lard (about 115 grams)
  3. as neededRefried black beans,
  4. 1 headromaine lettuce
  5. Oaxaca cheese (quesillo), as needed (string cheese)
  6. Avocado, to taste
  7. Tomato, to taste

Steps

15 minutes
  1. 1

    Spread the entire tortilla with pork lard, then add a layer of refried beans, followed by lettuce, and finally the Oaxaca cheese. Add the other ingredients to taste.

  2. 2

    Heat the tlayuda (traditionally, this is done over hot coals in Oaxaca, but you can also use your stovetop).

  3. 3

    If you like, fold the tlayuda in half so you can flip it easily. Serve with guacamole, salt, and a fresh salsa.
