Steps

Firstly, preheat oven to 200c. start with the breadcrumbs, remove the crust and blitz a few slices of bread. I used about 3 slices of thick white bread.

Next line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Transfer the bread crumbs to a bowl and add garlic and 1 tbsp of olive oil, Season will with salt and mix well.

Transfer to baking tray and spread evenly. Bake for about 8 minutes. Once done set aside.

Next cook the pasta following pasta instructions. Add some salt to the water.

Pour the remaining olive oil into a frying pan and fry the onions and garlic for 3-5 minutes or until soft.

Next add the wine and lemon zest, season well with salt and pepper. Allow the liquid to cook down.

In a separate pan fry the bacon until crispy.

Add the creme fraiche to the frying pan and bacon. Remove from heat but cover with lid so it stays warm.

Add the cabbage to the pasta water for for the last 3-5 minutes depending how cooked you prefer the cabbage.

Drain the pasta and cabbage well, then return to the pan.

Add the creamy mixture to the pasta and toss well together until evenly coated.

To serve top with the breadcrumbs previously made.
