This homemade version of hoisin sauce is a fresher tasting version of the bottled sauce. It is a great dipping sauce or add in flavor booster for vegetables, rice and asian noodles. It is slso good as a grill sauce for meats

Heat oil in small saucepan and add garlic and soften for 1 minute

Add remaining ingredients and cook on low until thickened to a smooth sauce about 4 to five minutes

Serve as a condiment for dipping or brush on meats before grilling. Use small amounts to season vegetables and tic and in asian pasta dishes.
