Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cupsbread flour (about 550 grams)
  • 2 cupswater (about 500 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoonsalt
  • 1/2 teaspoonbaking soda
  • sourdough starter, if available
  • sunflower or olive oil

Steps

  1. 1

    To make the dough: Heat the water until it is warm (about 104°F/40°C). Pour the water into a bowl, add the salt and baking soda. Mix well, then add the flour. Knead thoroughly.

    Place the dough into a churro maker.

    Fry in plenty of very hot oil.

    If desired, sprinkle with sugar.
