The whole spices used for this recipe are a blend of black pepper, cumin seeds, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon.

Cut your meat into cubes i.e, the size of your choice and boil. Once ready, drain the water and put it aside

Heat oil in a sufuria and fry the onions till golden brown.add the whole spices and let them fry for about a minute

Throw in the meat and let it fry together with the spices for like 3 minutes

Add some tomato paste together with ginger and garlic and stir for two minutes then put some salt and continue stirring
- 5
Layer the rice onto the meat, season with some more salt, pour in the hot water (to cook the rice)

Cover and reduce the temperature and let sit for 12-15 minutes.

Once ready, serve with kachumbari or salad
