Soak white peas for 6-8 hours.Cook them with 3 cups of water and 1/2 tbsp salt in a pressure cooker.After one whistle cook for about 7-10 minutes on low flame.

Dice the boiled potatoes in small cubes.Heat a heavy bottomed pan and add oil to it.Add cumin seeds.Now add boiled potatoes.Saute for a minute.Add green chillies and boiled peas.Add salt and red chilli powder.

Cook for 2-3 minutes more.If needed you can add some water to get the right consistency.Cut a lemon into halves and squeeze.Cook for another minute and transfer into a bowl.Top it with chopped onion and slit green chilli.Garnish with chopped coriander.Matar is ready to serve.

Heat a tawa.Put some butter on it.Put kulchas on tawa.Flip and let cook on both sides till you get nice golden brown spots on them.Serve with hot and spicy matar and coriander chutney.
