Ingredients

15 minutes
3 servings
  1. For the batter of vada:
  2. 1/2 cupidli rava
  3. 1/2 cupchiroti (fine) rawa
  4. 1/4 cupurad dal flour
  5. to tasteSalt
  6. Water as required to adjust the consistency of the batter
  7. For stuffing:
  8. 4boiled potatoes
  9. 1small onion chopped finely
  10. to tasteSalt
  11. 1 tspsambhar masala powder
  12. 1green chilli
  13. 1/2 inchginger piece
  14. 2 tbspchopped coriander leaves
  15. 1small piece of coconut
  16. 1/2 tsplemon juice
  17. For serving:
  18. As neededCoconut chutney
  19. As neededGreen chutney
  20. As neededSambhar

Steps

15 minutes
  1. 1

    For the batter of the vada: Mix everything for the batter properly in a mixing bowl by adding sufficient water.

  2. 2

    Soak for atleast 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    If required add more water.

  4. 4

    Keep the batter thick and not flowy.

  5. 5

    In another bowl take smashed boiled potatoes, onions, sambhar masala, salt and lemon juice.

  6. 6

    Make paste of coriander leaves, coconut, ginger and chilli in the mixture.

  7. 7

    Add the paste to the boiled potatoes

  8. 8

    Mix everything properly and make round balls of the mixture.

  9. 9

    Add pinch baking powder to the batter just before frying.

  10. 10

    Dip the potato balls in the batter and deep fry them in oil at medium flame.

  11. 11

    Serve the masala dosa vada with coconut chutney, green chutney and sambhar.
