Ingredients

  1. 1 1/4 cupwarm milk
  2. 1/4 cupcastor sugar
  3. 4 tspyeast
  4. 3 3/4 cupsall purpose flour
  5. 1 tspsalt
  6. 1 1/2 tspcinnamon powder
  7. 1/4 cupbutter/margarine
  8. 1 cupraisins
  9. 2eggs
  10. 1 tbsbutter for brushing
  11. Water and flour for making the cross

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix milk, sugar and yeast in a bowl and stir until the sugar is dissolved, set aside for 10 mins

  2. 2

    Sift all dry ingredients add butter and rub in until it's crumbly

  3. 3

    Stir in eggs and the yeast mixture... Then add the raisins combine until a soft dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead again until smooth then divide into sizeable balls. Set aside for 20 minutes for rolls to rise.

  5. 5

    When rolls have risen use the water and flour paste to make the crosses

  6. 6

    Bake for 10 mins at 200° then reduce to 180° and bake for further 15 mins... Remove from oven and brush with butter.

  7. 7

    Serve with tea or cold Milk
