Ingredients

  1. 1medium size whole pomfret fish, cleaned, washed & drained
  2. To tasteSalt and red chilli powder
  3. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  4. 1 tspLemon juice
  5. 3/4 cupfresh grated coconut
  6. 4-5kashmiri red chilies, soaked for 30 minutes
  7. 1small onion
  8. 3-4garlic cloves
  9. 1 inchginger
  10. 1-2green chilies
  11. 1/4 tspwhole peppercorns
  12. 1 tsptamarind paste
  13. 1 tbspcoriander seeds
  14. 1 tspcumin seeds
  15. 1 1/2 cupwater
  16. 1 tspcoriander leaves, chopped to garnish

Steps

  1. 1

    Marinate the fish with a pinch of salt, turmeric powder. red chilli powder and lime juice for 5-10 minutes.

    Grind together all the remaining ingredients into a fine paste & keep aside.

    Heat a pan & pour the paste along with the water & simmer for 8-10 min.

    Add the marinated fish and simmer further for 7-8 minutes.

    Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot steamed rice.
