Ingredients

  1. 1 cupChana lentils soaked
  2. 1/2 cupbottle gourd/Lauki chopped
  3. 1 tspgreen chilli chopped
  4. 1 tspginger finely chopped
  5. 1 tbspcoriander leaves chopped
  6. to tasteSalt
  7. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  8. 1/4+ 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  9. 1/4 tspgram masala
  10. 1/8 tspasafoetodia
  11. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  12. 1bay leaf
  13. 1" cinnamon
  14. 2cloves
  15. 4-5whole black pepper
  16. 1lemon juice
  17. 1 pinchsugar
  18. 1 tbsp+ 1tsp clarified butter/desi ghee
  19. 1/2 tbspbutter
  20. 2 cupWater or as needed

Cooking Instructions

    Take pressure cooker put chana lentils & bottle gourd. Add ginger, green chilli, salt, turmeric powder, gram masala and 2 cup of water. Mix well, close the lid and cook on high flame until one whistle. Turn the flame on medium heat,get three whistle. Turn off the gas. Open the lid after 5 minutes.

    Take a wok heat on medium flame add 1 tbsp desi ghee, combine all ingredients bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cumin seeds, whole black pepper & asafoetodia then it cracked add red chilli powder, tomato and sugar mix well on low flame. Stir continuously and cook until turns in mushy. Add in cooked chana dal. Saute and cook for one minute. Mix butter & turn off the heat.

    Take a tadka pan heat on low flame put one tsp desi ghee add 1/4 red chilli powder stir 10 seconds on heat. Red chilli ghee is ready for garnishing. Turn off the heat.

    Now, pour the Chana lentils in serving bowl. Mix the lemon juice and garnish with red chilli ghee and coriander leaves.

    Delicious ' Chana lentils with bottle gourd ' ready to serve with chapati, tandoori roti or naan. Enjoy!!
