Ingredients

  1. 1 cupBasmati rice soaked for 30 minutes
  2. 1/2 cupBoiled chickpeas
  3. 1Onion chopped
  4. 2Green chillies
  5. 1 tbspOil
  6. 1 tbspGhee
  7. 1Bay leaf
  8. 1 pinchHing / asafoetida
  9. 1Tomato chopped
  10. as neededGreen coriander leaves for garnishing
  11. 1 tspGaram masala
  12. 1 stickCinnamon
  13. 5Peppers
  14. 2Cardamom
  15. Cloves5
  16. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  17. to tasteRed chilli powder as preferred
  18. to tasteSalt

Cooking Instructions

    Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker. Add bay leaf and the whole cloves pepper cinnamon and cardamom.

    Add chopped onions and green chillies. Add tomatoes. When done add turmeric powder and salt. Add the chickpeas. Add red chilli powder. Cook for a few minutes.

    Add rice and mix. Add 2 cups of warm water. Add the garam masala. Cook for one whistle. Remove the pressure with a spoon and add coriander leaves and fluff the rice with a fork.serve with raita
