Soru Chakli Recipe | Indian Crepe
Soru chakli is a traditional Bengali dish. It is quite similar to a crepe. A thin pancake which is made from rice and urad dal (black gram). It's an easy recipe and takes very less time to cook. So you can make it without any hassle and enjoy with your family.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Wash the rice and urad dal nicely, then soak them separately overnight. Grind both separately and make a smooth paste. Then mix them.
- 2
Then grind sauf(fennel seeds) and ginger and make a smooth paste.
- 3
Add the paste to the batter, then add salt and water. The batter should be on the thinner side. But not too runny. Mix thoroughly.
- 4
Heat a heavy cast iron tawa or non-stick tawa on medium heat. Now cut the stem of eggplant and dip it into oil, then apply it evenly on the tawa. The eggplant stem helps to equally distribute the oil and makes sure that there is no excess oil.
- 5
Once the tawa is hot, pour a ladle full of batter. Spread it evenly into a round shape. The pancake should be thin, just like dosa. But not crisp, it should remain soft. Cook for a few minutes.
- 6
Once it firms up a little, start loosening the sides and then flip it. Cook the other side too. Then remove it from the tawa and keep it on a plate to cool down. Then you can fold it. Clean the tawa and repeat the process.
- 7
To give this recipe a slight twist, I am adding chopped green chillies and coriander leaves into the batter. (optional)
- 8
Mix it and repeat the same process to make the pancakes.
- 9
Serve it with dum aloo.

Southern Indian Breakfast Crepe: Rice and Bean Adai Southern Indian Breakfast Crepe: Rice and Bean Adai
This is our standard breakfast recipe in our house. My parents eat another kind of Dosa (bean crepe), but it requires a certain type of beans and they are hard to get hold of, so I make this one a lot, since I can make it easily using the ingredients I normally have at home. It's also delicious served with egg omelet, vegetable stir-fry, or potato salad. The batter should not be too runny, and should be a little thicker than pancake batter. Having said that, even if the batter became too runny, it will turn out tasty after pan-frying it thinly. You can use either Basmati rice or Japanese rice. Rice flour may work as well. Chewy Chocolate Crepes Chewy Chocolate Crepes
is a recipe for chewy crepe batter that I came up with through trial and error. It makes crepes just like the ones from a crepe stand. I based this chocolate crepe with the original plain crepe and the matcha version.Make sure you use cocoa powder (unsweetened) instead of hot chocolate mix or any with sweeteners. It's very important to heat the frying pan very well before pouring in the batter! I heat it until it smokes, then place it on top of a damp dish cloth for a few seconds to cool, and then start cooking the crepes.Be careful not to start a fire! Recipe by Hamumaki cookpad.japan -
Rice Flour Chewy Crepes Rice Flour Chewy Crepes
I bought rice flour, so I decided to try making my usual crepes with half white flour and half rice flour. It became harder to tear and was easier to cook. My husband really liked the chewy texture, so I decided to post the recipe here.If the heat is too low, it takes time to cook and the batter will dry out. You should try to make them thin, yet moist and chewy in the inside. Recipe by Umaumasumairu cookpad.japan -
[Farmhouse Recipe] Rice Flour Chewy Crepe [Farmhouse Recipe] Rice Flour Chewy Crepe
I've been making pancakes or crepes with homemade rice flour. I came up with this amount of the rice flour and milk, which seems the most moist, chewy and delicious.・ Let the batter rest for no less than 1 hour. I sometimes make the dough the day before and cook it the next day. The rice flour takes a long time to absorb the moisture, so please do let it rest.・ If the rice flour sank to the bottom of the batter after resting, stir it before cooking. Moist Chewy Crepes Moist Chewy Crepes
I've always loved crepes and often made it without giving much thought to the ratio of ingredients, but this time, I measured them out well. Because these crepes are so simple and yet easy to handle, I decided to post the recipe here!Take care to strain the batter to remove lumps - this really makes a difference. There's no need to grease the pan if it's a non-stick frying pan. Make sure to heat the frying pan well. It's a simple taste, so you could make a meal with it for sure.
