Turmeric Mash / Haldi Bhorta (holud Gudiye in Chakma)

Turmeric is very common in our deshi household and used almost in all dishes. This is one of my favourite ways of eating turmeric. Bhorta in Bangla and Gudiye in chakma, different words but same meaning and taste amazing. This was also one of the bhortas that I craved and had it during my pregnancy. I hope all of you will enjoy like I do.

Peel the raw turmeric, wash it well and chop them.

Take a pan and heat the oil. Add the chopped onion and chopped garlic cloves fry them for 2 minutes. Then add the green chilies along with fish pieces. Stir and cook them for 5 minutes and then add the chopped raw turmeric also add salt to taste. Let all of them cook for further 5 minutes and then add half cup of water. Cooked all of it for 10 minutes or until the water is reduced.

When water is reduced, remove the fish bones. Then grind all of them with the help of pestle and mortar or just use blender to partially blend it. The bhorta should not be too smooth, it should have a little chunks of turmeric for a good bite.
