Ingredients

70 minutes
Serves 2 servings
  1. 14chicken wing drumettes
  2. 2 clovesgarlic, minced
  3. 1/2 tablespoonminced ginger
  4. 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  5. 1/4 teaspooncrushed black pepper
  6. 1/4 cupsoy sauce
  7. 1/4 teaspoonsmoked chili powder or chili paste
  8. 1 tablespoonpaprika or mild chili powder
  9. 1 cupwater (about 240 ml)
  10. 1 tablespoonhoney
  11. 1 tablespoontoasted sesame seeds
  12. To thicken the sauce
  13. 1 teaspooncornstarch
  14. 1 teaspooncold water
  15. Dissolve the cornstarch in the cold water

    Rinse the chicken wing drumettes under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
    Clean the sink with soap and water to disinfect.
    In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, ginger, salt, pepper, soy sauce, chili powder or paste, and paprika.
    Place the chicken drumettes on a baking sheet and marinate with the sauce for 1 hour at room temperature.
    Add the water to the bottom of the baking sheet.

    Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    Bake the chicken drumettes for about 5 minutes, until golden and fully cooked.
    Turn them occasionally so they brown evenly.
    If the sauce starts to dry out, add a little more water as needed.

    After the drumettes are cooked, pour the juices into a small saucepan, mix in the honey, bring to a boil, and thicken with the cornstarch and water mixture.

    Toss the drumettes with a little of the sauce and serve the rest in small bowls on the side.
    Serve the drumettes on a plate with the sauce and sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the top.
