Spicy paneer steak with charred bell peppers

One of my favorite vegetarian options for date nights. Rich in protein and almost with no trans fat. It's a very good option for healthy yet supremely delicious dinner/lunch.

One of my favorite vegetarian options for date nights. Rich in protein and almost with no trans fat. It's a very good option for healthy yet supremely delicious dinner/lunch.

Cut the yellow, green and red bell peppers into large triangles. Cut the onion in to flakes. Fine chop the garlic. Cut ginger into julienne /match sticks.

On a frying pan add 3 tablespoon of oil. Add the chopped garlic and lightly sauteé. Add the onion and bell peppers and sauteé on high flame. Season with chili flakes and oregano. Add 20gms of sugar and a splash of water. Season with salt and pepper. Keep aside.

On the same frying pan place the paneer steak and sear on medium low flame for 2 minutes. Flip when the side is golden. Sear on both sides and rest aside. Repeat with the other steak.

For the glaze to the frying pan add the soya sauce. Add the ginger and the sugar. Add one tablespoon of water and boil till a sticky syrup like glaze is formed. Reduce the flame and add the steaks and glaze both sides by swirling the steak around the pan. Serve hot over the mound of sauteéd veggies and garnish with micro herbs or toasted white sesame seeds.
