Fruity Hot Sandwich

It's a great snack that you can make with kids!

If you use watery jam, it will easily soak the bread, so please be careful. There's an infinite variety of jam and fruit combinations possible. Something like chocolate sauce or peanut butter would be fun to try as well. Recipe by Cookie shiasu

Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 2 sliceThinly sliced bread (sandwich slices)
  2. 1 tbspJam of your choice
  3. 1 tbspFruits of your choice
  4. 1Olive oil
  5. 1Cinnamon sugar

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

This time, I am using whole grain bread. Cut off any crusts and cut up the fruit into 1cm chunks.

  2. 2

Top 2 slices of the bread with jam and fruit. On the left, I have apple sauce and raspberries. On the right, strawberry jam with bananas.

  3. 3

Cover the fruit and jam with the remaining slices of bread. Using a fork, press the slices closed together all along the edges of the sandwiches. Kids can help out with this step.

  4. 4

Brush some olive oil on the tops of the sandwiches and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

  5. 5

Toast in a oven. It tastes best when the entire surface is a toasty golden brown. Cut the sandwiches in half and enjoy.
