Steps

Soak Chana Dal for 30 mins. Wash the Spinach well and chop fine, blanch in hot water for 1 min and immediately put them in ice cold water for 2 mins. Drain and set aside

In a pressure cooker, add all Dals, turmeric powder and salt and on medium flame pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Once done don’t remove the lid, de-pressurise and gently remove the lid. Set aside

In a wok heat ghee, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, chopped onions, cook until onions softened.

Add chopped tomatoes, green chilies and cook until tomatoes are mushy. Add coriander powder, red chillies powder and the spinach. Stir well.

Add the cooked Dal and mix well, add salt, lime juice, coriander leaves. Mix and set aside

For Tempering - in a wok heat ghee, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, whole red chillies, fried onions and Kashmiri red chilli powder. Stir for 1 min and immediately add to the Dal. Mix well and set aside

Plate with Roti, Rice, Papad and salad and enjoy a wholesome meal
