Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1 bowl toor or sambar dal
  • 1drumstick
  • 4,lady finger
  • 1 tomato,
  • 1/2 small piece ash gourd
  • 1carrot
  • 2 potato,
  • 1elephant foot (yam)
  • 1 onion,
  • 1 brinjal
  • 2green chilies
  • 1 ,very small piece ginger
  • as requiredsome shallots(small onions)
  • 5 garlic pods
  • 2 tbsptamarind pulp
  • as per tastesalt
  • 4 tbspcoconut shreddings
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds,
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds,
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal,
  • 1/2 tsp toor dal,
  • 1small piece of hing can use powder
  • 6-7 curry leaves,
  • as required coriander
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder,
  • 1tsp coriander powder,
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash and cook dal in pressure cooker with little salt, turmericl for one whistle

  2. 2

    Let it cool open now add cut vegetables except lady finger and brinjal also add chillies and ginger

  3. 3

    To this add red chilli powder,coriander powder salt close cook for 1 whistle

  4. 4

    Let cool open add lady finger and brinjal and cook do not put the lid

  5. 5

    Take a pan pour very little oil pfirst put the piece of hing roast it then add cumin, 2 dal,

  6. 6

    Garlic,shallots, some curry leaves mustard seeds roast

  7. 7

    Turns dark brown remove from fire let cool

  8. 8

    Grind in mixie with little water

  9. 9

    Add this paste and tamarind paste into the cooker let it boil

  10. 10

    Off the flame now temper with mustard seed,curry leaves,dry red chilli

  11. 11

    South indian sambar readyto eat with rice,doss,idli enjoy

  12. 12

    Can cook sambar even if you have only 2 or3 veg like drum dtick bhindi, carrot

  13. 13

    Or if you have only lady finger and ash gourd it taste good
