Milagu Kuzhanbu is a tamarind and pepper based sauce which is served with steamed rice, ghee/ gingerly oil.
Steps

Mix 1/2 cup / 125 ml of water and tamarind pulp.

Dry roast toor dal until the raw smell goes and it changes slightly brown in color, add pepper, cumin seeds, red chilies, methi, salt, hing, curry leaves. and roast for 3-4 minutes. Allow it to cool down completely.

Make a powder of the above-roasted ingredients.

In a Kadai add oil, mustard seeds, let it splutter well add the grounded powder, turmeric powder, tamarind water and allow it to boil on a medium flame.

In 15-20 minutes the oil will be separated...you can switch off the flame.

Serve with steamed rice, ghee/ gingerly oil.
