Bunny's Husband's Elegant Tomato Sauce

I love Italian food. This is a recipe passed down from Bunny's husband's family. It's a convenient sauce that can be used deliciously with pasta, hamburg steak, gratin, omurice, curry, etc. This can be frozen and stored, but even though I always make a lot, it all just gets eaten up.

In Step 1, since you're not mincing anything, it can be done on top of a paper towel.
In Step 2, be sure not to burn the garlic. Let it cook on low heat.
In Step 3, I crushed the tomatoes and dropped them directly in the pot, but hot oil may splatter, so be careful.
We love this recipe because it doesn't make a lot of dirty dishes. Recipe by bunny fish.

Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 1Canned tomatoes (whole)
  2. 2 tbspOlive oil
  3. 1 cloveGarlic
  4. 1Red chili pepper
  5. 1/2 tsp☆ Salt or more (we use Okinawa Yonemaasu brand. Regular salt has a more pronounced taste, so if you use it please adjust the amount accordingly)
  6. 1 tsp☆Basil
  7. 1/2 tsp☆Oregano
  8. 1/2 tsp☆Fresh parsley

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Cut the garlic in half, remove the ends and set aside. Cut the red chili pepper in half and remove the seeds.

  2. 2

Put olive oil in a pot and add the ingredients from Step 1. Cook well on low heat. Once the oil has become very fragrant, stop the heat.

  3. 3

Crush the whole canned tomatoes with your hand and add to the pot from Step 2. Also add leftovers in the can by swishing around a little water to get it out.

  4. 4

Bring to a boil on low heat for 1 to 2 minutes, then add the ☆ ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes. Use a wooden ladle to scoop-mix. Once it has a heavy feel, it's done.

  5. 5

On the first day, the tomatoes are really fresh. We call it young sauce. Delicious when eaten with pasta.

  6. 6

The following day the flavor deepens. We call this the mature sauce, and it's a real treasure. It'll bring some kick to various types of dishes.

  7. 7

I recommend using whole canned tomatoes. Crush them by hand and add. You really feel the presence of the tomato and it's such a rich taste.

  8. 8

The garlic will become soft and fall apart upon boiling. You can crush and mix it in, or however you prefer.

  9. 9

According to one of the tips received, add half a grated carrot for a slight sweetness. Kids will love it.
