Steps
- 1
Heat oil and add mustard seeds to it. When it crackles, add both dals and saute until pink. Now add hing, dry red chilli and curry leaves to it. Add onion and saute until translucent. Now add green chilli paste and ginger paste to it and mix it.
- 2
Add vermicelli to it and roast on medium heat until light pink in colour. While vermicelli is roasting, take 1.5 cup water and heat it. Now add hot water to it slowly and keep stirring. Be careful while adding hot water as it might splash.
- 3
Now cover and cook it on low heat until done. This takes only 7 - 10 minutes. Now add ghee on top and mix everything lightly.
- 4
Serve vermicelli upma hot as a breakfast with tea or coffee.
