Mango Halwa is an aromatic and delectable Indian sweet pudding made with mango puree, rava, sugar, and ghee. Now add a twist by baking with rich caramel sauce made from Nestle Milkmaid. This Baked Dulce de Leche Mango Halwa is a delectable dessert that dedicates itself to gourmet.
Steps
- 1
Make dulce de leche:
Pour condensed milk into a bowl; set over a pot of simmering water. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sauce is very thick and golden brown, about 2 1/2 hours. Add more water to pot during cooking time, if necessary. Remove bowl; set aside to cool. - 2
Make Mango Halwa:
Take 1 medium to large size mango. Chop it and add the mango pieces in a blender or mixer jar. You will need about 1/2 cup of chopped mangoes. Try to use sweet mangoes.
In another pan or kadai, take 3 tablespoon ghee and let it melt. - 3
Keep the heat to low or medium-low and then add ½ cup fine rava or suji.
- 4
Roast the rava in the ghee on a low to medium-low heat, stirring often.
- 5
The rava has to be roasted well and should become aromatic. This is an important step and if the rava is not roasted well, the halwa will become sticky or lumpy.
- 6
Add sugar at this stage and mix well. Add warm milk slowly and keep stirring so that no lumps are formed.Add 50 gms condensed milk at this stage
- 7
Once the rava is cooked, rava absorbs milk and the halwa begins to thicken, add the mango puree to it. Mix well.
- 8
All the milk gets absorbed in the suji or rava, If you want, you can add some more ghee at this step. Add cardamom powder and mix well
- 9
Sprinkle grated pista on top and switch off the flame.
- 10
Assembling:
Grease your baking dish with ghee.
Now place the mango halwa on the dish and spread uniformly with a spatula
Cover with a cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes once cool. - 11
Baking
Remove the cling film and now spread the dulce de leche on top of the halwa.
Preheat the oven at 190 degrees for 10 minutes
Place the baking dish into the oven and bake at same temperature for 30 minutes.
The caramelized condensed milk gives a beautiful hue and taste to the dish with the yellow mango halwa. - 12
Serve in small cups or bowls and enjoy warm.
