A delicious but not too heavy dish at all. Don’t tell anyone that I added oyster sauce and miso paste in (It’s a secret 🤫🤫!) Perfect for midweek meal that you can just leave the slow cooker do all the work for you. Perfectly serve with rice, pasta, boiled baby potatoes, mash potatoes or chips!

Slow Cook Beef Stroganoff 🍛

Ingredients

6 - 8 hours on slow cooker
4 portions
  1. 350 gstewing steak, such as chuck, cut into strips
  2. Pinchsalt and pepper
  3. 1 tbspvegetable cooking oil or
  4. 2onions, thin sliced
  5. 3-4garlic cloves, crushed
  6. 1beef or chicken stock cube
  7. 2 tbspoyster sauce
  8. 1 tbspmiso paste
  9. 1 tbspTomato purée
  10. 1 tbspDijon mustard or mustard powder
  11. 20 gbutter
  12. 250 gchestnut mushrooms, thin sliced
  13. 200 gsoured cream or Crème fraîche
  14. 1/2 cupwater (may need more)
  15. Some finely chopped parsley for garnish
  16. Pinchpaprika powder to serve

Cooking Instructions

6 - 8 hours on slow cooker

    Turn on the slow cooker. Season the beef with salt and pepper, mix well. Heat the oil in a medium heat frying pan and add the beef in. Cook until deep brown, then transfer to the slow cooker. Add the onion, mushroom, garlic into slow cooker. Add about 1-2 tbsp of water if prefer

    Break up the stock cube and add into slow cooker, then add dijon mustard, oyster sauce, miso paste, tomato purée. Add enough water to just cover the beef, mix well, put the lid on and cook on Low for 6-8 hrs or High for 5-6 hrs.

    About 30 mins before serving, melt the butter in a frying pan on low heat and add soured cream or Crème fraîche in. Slowly mix it and bring to a simmer. Heat off and pour into the slow cooker. Turn to High and cook for another 15 mins. Serve with your rice, potatoes, pasta or chips, sprinkled with pastry and paprika.
